VDOT’s Materials Division is seeking an experienced individual to provide leadership, direction and engineering expertise for engineering services in the Materials Division. Duties include, but are not limited to: providing technical expertise and support to the State Materials Engineer, District field personnel, contractors, federal, state and local government agencies, regarding material sampling, testing, installation, specifications, applications and design. The selected candidate will also ensure the Central Office laboratory accreditation program is maintained, as well as oversee the development of material sampling and test procedures for effective field implementation. This position is physically located in Sandston, VA.
Experience managing multiple complex materials testing programs. Experience reflecting knowledge of materials science and extensive experience in applying materials evaluation methods in construction and maintenance work. Progressively responsible engineering experience reflecting the ability to manage and direct technical operations. Experience managing staff, performance management and employee development. Valid Professional Engineer’s license.
