The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) and the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment’s Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering program seeks applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position in the field of pavements and materials engineering. Appointment may be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments. The projected start date is August 2018, but accommodation can be made for the best candidate.
Candidates will have a Ph.D in civil engineering, or a closely related field, with a research and scholarly focus on pavements and materials, including advanced laboratory testing, pavement design, construction practices, and modeling techniques. Job responsibilities include developing an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring graduate students and undertaking service activities as appropriate to their rank. Professional engineering licensure or the ability to obtain registration in a timely manner is desirable. As part of its New American University initiatives, ASU seeks candidates with pavements and materials research interests addressing critical infrastructure grand challenges, environmental impacts, and sustainable technologies across multiple spatial and temporal scales.
Although tenure home may be in any of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment is currently the most involved in the interest areas of the search.
Ph.D in civil engineering or a closely related field.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the growth and success of the pavement and materials engineering program. SSEBE has 51 faculty members, approximately 1160 undergraduate and 420 graduate students, and generates annual research expenditures in excess of $12.6 million per year.
