An Overview The Pedestrian and Bicycle Coordinator will be a highly motivated, creative, and responsible candidate with strong public communication skills to work within the Transportation and Environmental Services Department. The employee will be responsible for all aspects of major planning functions and projects requiring advanced skills in research and analysis, and the use of advanced skills.
What You Should Bring The ideal Pedestrian and Bicycle Coordinator candidate will have demonstrated successes with publicly visible safety projects, public outreach, and project management. This candidate will thrive in thinking outside the box, bringing innovative ideas to the table, while working towards the best possible implementable outcome. The position requires a strong balance of people skills and technical know-how.
Manages all elements of a project from pre-planning and data analysis, conceptual to final design, public outreach implementation and evaluation and monitoring;
Designs intersection to improve safety, bicycle lanes and trails, traffic calming, and reviews new developments for appropriate bicycle and pedestrian amenities and treatments;
Conducts research, data collection and analysis, field investigations, surveys, demographic information, and other relevant documents;
Reviews traffic studies, concepts, design plans and construction documents;
Engages in innovative forms of public outreach;
Develops and manages budgetary expenditures consistent with project allocations to include federal and grant funded projects;
Coordinates with other City Departments, with consultants, with external stakeholders, and with contractors on all aspects of project implementation;
Responds to citizen requests related to pedestrian and bicyclist safety, traffic calming, and other related requests.Creates and maintains project websites.Uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to organize, analyze, and present information;
Performs related duties as required.

Minimum & Additional Requirements
Four-Year College Degree from an accredited college or university in regional, or urban planning, or a closely related field such as Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Geography, Urban Studies, Public Administration, Physical Sciences, Historic Preservation, or Environmental Studies and two years of relevant planning experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Master's Degree; more than two years of progressive planning experience in an urban setting; experience in innovative public outreach methods; excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, manage budgets, and ensure accountability; familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS; familiarity with active transportation planning and Complete Streets, pedestrian and bike mobility and safety, street design, and traffic engineering.
