Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking a Construction Manager to join our Portland, Maine office.

The position anticipates a significant field presence in the Portsmouth, New Hampshire area for a period of 1 to 2 years and potentially longer covering construction and operation of groundwater treatment systems. At times (less than 25 percent) office work out of the Portland, Maine office may be required. In the future construction management and / or operation and maintenance (O&M) management and activities may be required in other locations.
Key Responsibilities •Manage / oversee subcontractors and junior / mid-level Amec Foster Wheeler staff during construction activities associated construction of large-scale groundwater treatment systems. In the future, construction work may include building construction or other environmental remediation technologies such as soil and sediment excavation, demolition, slurry walls, sheet walls and general site civil work •Responsible for overall field safety of subcontractors and other on-site Amec Foster Wheeler personnel •Review complete design plans, specifications and special provisions for soil / groundwater remediation systems, excavations, demolition and general civil site work •Track payment applications, requests for information, change order requests and general construction phase submittals •Review contractor submittals including equipment, Work Plans and QA / QC Plans •Complete daily, weekly and monthly construction reports •Conduct project closeout activities including final inspections, completion of punch lists, record drawings, and contract closeout •Review plans and specifications for constructability during design •Prepare conceptual construction estimates •Develop and maintain project schedules (Master and three week look-ahead) •Prepare bidding documents with detailed direction, requests for proposals and assist in subcontractor procurement •Learn and stay up-to-date on guidance, state and federal environmental / construction regulations, reviews, and methods relevant to the management and remediation of contaminated sites •Maintain and develop vendor and other professional contacts •Participate in training events, project meetings and construction / engineering team meetings •Work and travel safely, follow company and site safety standards, maintain permits and training certificates •Manage responsibilities on multiple projects at one time •Maintain successful client relations •Operate and maintain groundwater extraction and treatment systems, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, sampling and reporting
Skills / Qualifications Required •B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree •10 years construction management experience in environmental remediation and / or process / wastewater type projects •Understanding of means and methods associated with groundwater treatment technologies, civil type work, CSI specifications and construction drawings •Understanding of structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and general building systems •Strong fundamental math skills •Advocate for maintaining a safe working environment •Excellent communication, both verbal and written •Strong organizational abilities •Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as required •Must pass drug test, entrance physical, and background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy •Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Preferred •Water / Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification •Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project and Primavera P6 •OSHA HAZWOPER 40 hr training in accordance with 29CFR1910.120 •OSHA HAZWOPER Site Supervisor •OSHA 10 or 30 hr Construction Safety
Physical Demands •Working outside in various, inclement weather conditions, uneven terrain •Office / Field work with computer
